Baltic Porter – All-Grain Recipe Kit

It is time to get around a camp fire with your friends, the Baltic Porter is in the house!  This imperialized adaptation of an English porter is a lot higher in alcohol with a sweet, malty flavor that still packs some hop flavor at 39.5 BTUs.  This beer goes exceptionally well with a cigar.  Surprisingly, this beer may get its roots from an Ale, but it is brewed as a lager, utilizing bottom fermented yeast.  It ages well, real well.

This is a high gravity beer and it needs a starter or a couple of yeasts packets to get it off properly (a single Imperial brand yeast will work)

Style Overview:
Originally created to be exported across the North Sea to the Baltic Trade, the Baltic Porter gets its roots from the English Porter. Unlike its sister porters, the Baltic was gradually transformed into a bottom-fermenting lager, as present tradition dictates. Strong, roasty, and hearty, the Baltic Porter clocks in at around 7-10%, making it a perfect treat for sitting around the fire
