How can "Black" be Pale?  That is a good questions and we have no answer, but hey, it comes out of the Pacific Northwest and sometimes they do things differently there.  If you like IPA's and darker, maltier beers like stouts you will like this.  If it makes you feel better you can label your's a "Cascadian Dark Ale"  They are the same style.  The first time I tried on of these beers I remember being very sceptical and then going "Oh, that's good!".
