Many Mexican beers are lagers, but they are typically lighter German style lagers.  Many of them have been "lightened up" not unlike American Lagers, so they don't that closely resemble the beer style they came out of.  This dark version of Dos Equis is unique in that it is still brewed as a classic darker "Vienna" style lager.  The style has a very pronounced malt flavor with minimal hops, but enough to properly balance the beer.  This is a very drinkable beer, I am particularly partial to it because it is my wife's absolute favorite beer!
