As the name implies, this is a Dark Wheat beer that was traditionally brewed in southern Germany. Although it is not as well known as the Hefeweizen, it actually predates the style. This darker beer is a real treat on a hot or a cold day! It has some of the same flavor profiles as a Hefeweizen, with tastes of cloves and banana's often present. Much of it's flavor profile comes from the wheat in the beer and from it's unique yeasts.
