Maibocks are also called Heller Bocks which means Pale Bock in German.  They were traditionally brewed in Germany.  This is typically a "special occasion beer" that could be considered the opposite of a Octoberfest beer, which was brewed for the start of winter.  The Maibock in contrast signifies the end of winter.  It is a brighter, lighter beer than most winter beers, but this does not mean it is light in alcohol, with an alcohol by volume of 6.6% (the style can go as high as 8%).  This beer is hoppier than your average German beer with a IBU of around 26.  It has a light, toasted, bread like flavor.  Enjoy this great beer as you celebrate spring, or anytime for that matter.  You are a homebrewer, you can do whatever you want!  Don't forget to look over the "Brewer's Notes" on this one for more tips on brewing.
