Old School NEIPA - Mini-Mash Extract Recipe Kit

(No reviews yet) Write a Review

This is a great recipe developed around the time that NEIPA's were coming upon the scene and based on some of the earliest practices of this style.  The irony of calling a NEIPA "old school" is not lost on us, but the style has rapidly changed over the last few years.  This version has a light color with low bitterness, a soft mouth feel and an in-your-face fruity hop smell and flavor. There is no bittering hop put in for the full 60 minutes of the boil instead we start with the aroma hops, understanding of course that some bitterness is still extracted it is not the type of bitterness you would find in a typical IPA. This beer has a very high alcohol by volume of around 7 1/2%. Because of this we recommend that you use a starter, two packs of regular yeast or use Imperial you which has a far greater number of active cells. Please read the bring notes carefully as there are some options including adding flour for additional haziness.
