Shank Size Explanations

• 12 1/8" = 11" usable shank space
• 10 1/8" = 9" usable shank space
• 8 1/8" = 7" usable shank space
• 6 1/8" = 5" usable shank space
• 5 1/8" = 4" usable shank space
• 4 1/8" = 3" usable shank space
• 3 1/8" = 2" usable shank space
• 2 1/8" = 1" usable shank space 

Usable Shank Space:

The amount of shank space that is available after using the front and rear components. If what you are passing through is this amount or less the shank will be too short your application. We have noticed a lot of returns of the 3” and 2” shanks because they are too short for most applications. Having to return a product like this is a lot of trouble for both the customer and Kegconnection and the customer is responsible for return shipping. We have added this note to help out everyone that is trying to make their keezer and kegerator building experience as easy and fast as possible. The 4 1/8” shank is the default because this will fit through the door of most refrigerators. Also, when working with shanks It helps to have a little extra shank inside the kegerator or keezer because it helps keep the shank cold so your beer is not hitting a warm shank and causing unnecessary foam. *Caution: our 2" shanks are returned frequently because only having 1" of usable shank please ensure that you have plenty of space for the shank and tailpiece.
